Hi all
I hope most of you are now done with their internship placement, am still left with a week to go and in the past two week, there was not much work to do hence no blog posts. In week 5 of the placement I was responsible for writing an article on the partnership between our organization, PT Foundation and The Undershop, which sells both the male and female undergarments. The two companies have collaborated in educating people about HIV; The Undershop would produce new limited edition red ribbon RAW underwear for World AIDS Day with the tagline “I am.” The profits from the sales of these underwear’s would be shared between the two companies. This is more or less the same like sponsorship which we were taught at school that for everything an organization do, it has to be sponsored. I was also responsible for coordinating the visit by 17 students and 2 professors from Tulane University of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, USA; they visited us to know everything about our organization which is part of their studies. As a PR person you should know what the visitors want and also what they are told so that if you see something published regarding your organization, you should be in a position to know who published it and who told them that.
Also in that week I was assign to post all our events from August until January 2011 in our social media, these events included the event which was held on Saturday (July 31) and the World AIDS Day Commemoration on December 1, which is one of the big events in the world.
Last week, I sent emails to invite VIPs to our Saturday event. The week was much more relaxed until Friday when I attended the final meeting on the event which was on Saturday, from the meeting I went back to the office to prepare all the things which we were at the event, I left the office at 11pm instead of the usual 4pm. The following day, Saturday, was the day for “Karnival Jom Ke Chow Kit” or Carnival Come to Chow Kit. At this event I was responsible for the AIDSAware booth where volunteers and I were explaining to the people who visited our booth about AIDSAware campaign, and get them the pictures of the people holding the messages. This is part of the PR skills, as a PR person you should be able to communicate with people and in most of the time you have to convince them, hence I was supposed to communicate and convince people to take pictures. I think the event was a success even though we did not attain the 500 people we were targeting.
Looking forward to finish and go back to school.
Thanks
