Yesterday marks the last day of my internship with PT Foundation Malaysia. It was great experience to work with this non governmental organization as I have learn how to write real feature articles, how the NGOs use new/social media, how to organize an event starting all the way from attracting event sponsors.
This week, there was nothing much to do as all the work was done. On Monday I was complying the Facebook report to find out how many people join our page in the past 4 weeks, this was to evaluate the results of the messages we sent to our volunteers to join our Facebook page. The results we promising as over 100 volunteers join our page and the comment increased by at more than 45 per cent.
The other thing was to teach the new communication and advocacy intern, who was taking over the work from my colleague, Denish and I as we are living the organization to continue our studies. We explain to the intern what the organizations do and what she should do as the organization’s PR person; we also gave her all the things which we have been doing ever since we join the organization.
On Tuesday the organization’s in-house manager and I attend the meeting (replacing my boss who is on a 3 weeks sick leave) to discuss with the Hope project students on their proposal to collaborate with the PT Foundation on their upcoming workshop and conference, to educate the youth on HIV/AIDS matters.
On Wednesday, there was a farewell party and dinner for all the staff that are leaving the organization and to welcome those who will be replacing them. Four staff, including me, are leaving while three would be coming in to replace us.
All thanks to PT Foundation to for giving me the opportunity to put what I have learn from class into practice and also to work with the communities which are marginalized, people living with HIV/AIDS, drug users, Sex workers, Transgender and the Men who have sex with other men, (they said they are different from gays).
Also thanks to all those who contributed to my internship through the comments in my blog post.
Thank you guys.

Hey! Good job on the internship! A more than 45% increase in comments is an amazing feat! Comments on Facebook have a knack for getting out of control, I hope your team don't have much trouble with that. Yes, handing over projects are indeed important as it involves passing down important corporate knowledge that otherwise may be lost. It is great to see fellow PR students' achievements, thanks for sharing and all the best!
Hello!
It must have been a great experience to work for an NGO!
As I said in one of my post, my internship in a 5 star hotel made me realised that I would like to give my time and energy for a real cause and for people who really need it, rather than for fortunate people and making-profit organisations.
It seems also that you have been doing very interresting tasks!
Good luck for your final report xx
