One month internship: overall feeling

After one month internship in the HR department of the Legends I can say that I enjoyed working there but that I don’t plan to be in the field of human resources later.

What I enjoyed is the great relationship I had with my colleagues as from the very beginning of the internship. In fact, they accepted me in the team very quickly and did not worry about giving me responsibilities and I think it was important for me to feel that people can trust me. I also enjoyed the different tasks the HR Manager asked me to do, including the organisation of the event, the design of a brochure, the participation to a cleaning campaign as well as the welfare plan.

What make me think that I’ll not be working in human resources later is that I have been observing my colleagues at work and it seems neither very exciting to me, nor challenging. In other words I wouldn’t like to be employed there as PR executive to deal with the internal communication.

I think that thanks to this internship I realised that I am not meant to work within big organisations such as the Legends which counts nearly 400 employees. I also realised that I will be more excited and will find more challenging to work for non-governmental organisations so as to give a sense to the work I’m doing.

To conclude, through this internship I discovered one facet of the job of PR and the challenges of the practice of internal public relations. Even if I experienced some negative sides of the job, I also learn a lot by observing my colleagues. It will probably help me later to know what I don’t want to do and it is a good start!
