After a two week break thanks to sickness, I returned back to work on Monday. The office was a buzz of hysteria as we had our weekly post-whip meeting (a whip is what they call a meeting... so its a post-whip whip) and worked out what we had to do for the rest of the week and the order in which to do it in.
My tasks were to write some copy - a media alert (kinda like a press release but shorter) about the pre-registration for Southbound coming to a close and pre-sales opening. We had almost 8000 registrations by Monday which is pretty fantastic considering last year only 20,000 or so went to the festival. After I'd written the copy, I was sent on a virtual mission to find the Klaxons interview on the Video Hits website. Klaxons are one of the headliners at Southbound and had spent last Sunday's Video Hits episode talking up the festival. Unfortunately, Video Hits hadn't uploaded the interview yet - it's up there now. My next job was to find the contact details for LiveGuide.
Wednesday and Friday were spent editing the One Movement website as it was a bit of a shambles. This took up a lot of time (almost 12 hours to be exact). Basically, I was only editing the bio's for each band but as whoever wrote the originals didn't really know what they were doing, it was left up to me to fix. Journalism study came in handy, after all!
I'm now up to day 7 and am starting to feel very much in my comfort zone.

this sounds like an exciting placement! I also found the value n doing journalism with pr as one of m tasks this week was to write a generic news article for the event we are holding.
Good luck :)
