Day 1 @ Socialite Media

Dear Reader,

Today was my first day, interning at Socialite Media.

Are you wondering what Socialite Media is? Socialite Media provide businesses a social media personal assistant, this means that businesses can now outsource their social media marketing to Socialite Media for them to handle and monitor all their social media activities! What a great way to reach your target audiences, don't you think? (:

Although it was my first day at work, I felt that at the end of the day, I learn something new. I use to have a shallow understanding of what social media can do. I always thought that 'yeah, social media is a great platform to inform and engage your target audiences.. even better, you can provide up to date information with a click of a button.. so fast.. so timely.. wow, the power of the internet.'

All that mind set of social media changed when my boss said, we are providing a niche market. It just struck me that, it is not just providing a service for businesses to set up their social media networking, it is a kind of niche communication that is fairly new, interesting and dynamic form of building a relationship with your key publics. It is a new form of 'media' that can be easily adaptable to produce the same outcomes as traditional media. (i.e. print magazines)

In my point of view, I feel that Public Relations activities would change with technology, that is not to say that traditional media is not used, it's just that people are so open to social media that there is a market to research on the businesses that incorporates social medias as part of their tactics to reach key publics.
