Yesterday, I got a chance to visit one of the day care centre at the main office as we needed to take some photos to use for the annual report that is coming up. I felt closer to the cause I am supporting at my organisation, Alzheimer's Australia, WA after this trip. Seeing the clients with dementia up close, I understand more about this illness too and how it should not be neglected. It is crucial that the targeted publics' awareness for this illness increases and more support can be gained in the process.
On another note, I am still working on the video for the walk, just looking for the right audio, which is a little difficult as we need to be very careful about the copyright rights. Besides that, I have been writing stories for the newsletter, where I have to rewrite a report into a story. I learnt that writing stories in newsletter is very similar to journalism, it is very important to be able to analyse and pick up the main points from a report and write it in layman's terms for all to understand. Furthermore, I learnt that small details are vital in PR as well, such as coming up with a standard format for job description advertisement to be used for different departments of an organisation to follow to ensure consistency in an organisation.
I have another 5 more days to go, so near yet so far. I know at the end of all these, I'll definitely have a whole new perception on PR =) and will be missing this fun I've during placement!=(
