Blue Sky Day

Hi peeps,

I'm Cheryl again from TCF , I did my second event on Oct 17 at Armadale, Blue Sky Day Mental Health Awareness Day.

All the organisation involved are related to Mental Health. Organisation like Beyond Blue, Ruah Community Service etc and of course us, The Compassionate Friends (TCF). It's a nice Sunny day at the Park. We set off at 7.15 am and get ready by 10 am.

We are still doing something similar to the one we did previously for the National Awareness Day. Things that are displayed and items selling are slightly different due the hiccups as the Marquee material non-stick, we cant get the things up.

We tried several ways and we fixed it on the three poles for our 3 theme, Grieving Healing Growing. We have more people with us (more experience) this time so we took a step back to observe how they interact, introduce and approach the public.

Due to the nature of TCF, the approach they used is rather direct, where they will inform what this organisation is all about and asked if they feel comfortable with it. I feel this is a very direct approach, to me is kinda of uncomfortable. But the public seem to able to accept it, probably is the different culture to what I seen in Singapore.

Several members visited us, they had received support by phone from the TCF and never met before. They met today and burst into laughter and tears. It is happy to see her heal her pain, to the parents, their loved ones are still in their hearts. They gone through the same.

Overall the event was successful. There are more to do now, as we received a number of feedbacks.
