Hotel industry as PR placement

I will related to you in brief my overall experience of working as an intern in the hotel industry.
I have been doing my placement at the Sun Resorts LTD in Mauritius.
The company owns five hotels, one of which is in the Maldives.

Doing my placement in the hotel industry as a public relations person was one of an exciting experience!
I have learned a lot of things and discovered several aspects of the field from a different perspective.
On the contrary of the PR theories acquired during lectures at university, the real life practice in the hotel industry was completely different. I mean, the PR theories were definitely applicable to the likely tasks I had to undertake but the environment was obviously different.

After doing my placement in the hotel industry, I am considering and willing to find a job in the same sector upon completion of my degree.
I think that working in the hotel sector has many advantages as it makes allowance for networking and sustaining relationships.

Moreover, there is a broad array of tasks that have to be dealt with while working in such a sector. One not only performs the role of a PR person but as well as that of marketing and in some instances of journalist!
This is quite incredible.
Additionally, the tasks to be done and the environment in which one works is motivating, fun and pleasing.
The plus with this is also that one gets to work with international people and the communication field is broadened. One not only gives knowledge but acquires a lot as well in return.

For me, personally this is exactly what happened. I clearly loved the internship I have been doing and now that it is over, I'm asking for more. =)
