Bursa Malaysia

Bursa Malaysia is an exchange holding company approved under Section 15 of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007. It operates a fully-integrated exchange, offering the complete range of exchange-related services including trading, clearing, settlement and depository services. The wholly-owned subsidiaries of Bursa Malaysia own and operate the various businesses.

Bursa has 1,000 listed companies offering a wide range of investment choices to the world. Companies are either listed on Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad Main Market or ACE Market.

Bursa Malaysia is just a website where private companies are listed. My task was to visit the website of Bursa Malaysia and list down companies as much as i could. Upon listing down the companies i had to call them and ask for the managing director `s name, number and email , same going to the chief executive officer , head of investor relations and secretary. Where i was able to get any of the above`s details i had to send them an invitation letter and make an appointment with my managing director for the upcoming seminar by Paul Zaman from Qualvin company and also another by Nicolas Gorges from reputation institute.

The main problem with this duty was that when i was calling this companies it took them a lot of time for them to understand.Some days i could just call about three companies because most of them hanged over the phone while we were still talking, i had to try over and over.Before starting to call my managing director just asked me to get details of about ten companies first and i was like wow only just ten and she just smiled and said its not easy and indeed it has been a burdensome work!.

This has been the main challenge i have encountered because i had to practice my skills in public relations. I had to talk in a way that would easily persuade and influence our clients and it was really hard. Some companies totally refused with the details i needed and this was the most thing that turned me of.

This work was commenced on the 1st of December and ended on the 13 of December.
