Sandrine Maingard (CTI)- Amnesty Mauritius section online campaign against death penalty

Hi,

It is Sandrine from Mauritius. I am doing my internship at Amnesty International Mauritian section. The section is currently doing a campaign against death penalty due to government speeches about reintroducing death penalty in the country. We carried the campaign online through facebook and via the website.

The campaign consists of people sending their photographs via facebook with the message no to death penalty, within their picture. Due too negative comments on the facebook, comments were discouraged on the page and the campaign slowed down.

So, to reboot the campaign online we decided to put a video on YouTube to promote the campaign and post a message on facebook, to encourage people to join the campaign. The YouTube video is also embedded n the different facebook page, so as to encourage people to go the facebook dedicated against death penalty.

If you have any other suggestions as how could we promote the campaign and reboot it, you are welcome.

Hello Sandrine. I would like to know what the negative comments were about. Did you try to investigate about the reasons of these comments? Maybe because there is a lack of education somewhere? This could help you to better understand your audience? Thank you for sharing and all the best for your internship.
