Hello good people I was doing my internship at 4thirteen media, a company which uses the social media to do its PR and advertising work. http://4thirteenmedia.com/ http://4thirteenmedia.com/blog/happy-thanksgiving/ http://www.facebook.com/4thirteenmedia
The first job which I was involved in was to launch the new workout machine for the gym called POWER PLATE in Malaysia, so we had to come up with a PR plan of how we going to do all the launch and promotions. And at the same time we had to come up with guerilla advertising ideas for the power plate machine(http://www.powerplate.com/). So we planned to make the launch event in the center of Bangsar Shopping Centre in Malaysia. My everyday job was to manage the company facebook page, the website and the blog, inviting people to the company facebook page, the website and the blog and to read people's comments to get their views or how they feels about the company's services and to get their suggestions

Wow! That must have been a lot of fun. I believe that nowadays with facebook, twitter and all these user-friendly social networks, PR and consumer relationships are rather interesting and more effective. Being able to get your target audiences' views from Facebook are more informative and coming from the horse's mouth, which makes the opinions seem rather original. The internet has proven to play a pivotal role in Public Relations nowadays. Nice going buddy!
I agree with you Cynthia and I think companies are now more into the different types of social media because they get immediate responses as to the things that they do from their customers.Social media has proven to be a very important element in Public Relations profession. As long as it is used correctly and if highly monitored which is what I think your company does since it is mainly into and which was what you were assigned to do.
I have to agree with the above comments as well. These days you can reach thousands of readers, fans and consumers with one swipe of the key board.
Being an avid twitterer, I have found a few companies to have extremely effective users that build a persona around a brand that would otherwise seem quite.. aloof.
Donna Karan New York (DKNY) is one of the brands that has, for me, become so much more personable now that I have read, and engaged in some of her tweets.
If you're on twitter and at all interested, have a look at @dkny . What she has done with the brand by responding directly to followers is incredible. She can answer stock questions, follow up media enquiries (with her equivalent at other brands and publications) and talk to her followers about why they love DKNY. I would say she has almost become as big as the brand herself in the Twittersphere.
