HOW TO DEAL WITH COMPETITORS
I used to wonder how organizations dealt with their competitors, what went into my mind was that these organizations become rivals since they are doing the same thing and they have to fight for clients. When i asked my supervisor on how they deal with their competitors i was surprised when she told me they do not have any competitors. She told me that they actually take other PR firms as their friends and they actually help each other. Since my company was more into media relations than other PR fields if they had to do something that is not media relations they ask for help from other firms who maybe specialize in that field, for example: an event management company. I think this is a good strategy, its better to have them as your friends and not enemy.

hey Alicia
i must say this is an eye opener since i used to have the same question at the back of my mind. more-so that i see this a good step or initiative for the pr companies, not only does it strengthen the nation but it broadens the work place as a whole. my opinion is that as some may realize their weaknesses in some areas it also means that they acknowledge other companies strengths which at the end of the day means knowledge is shared.
this is also what i realized from The BNOC organisation which i interned in 'that they don't have competitors but rather mentors and friends through the sports arena..'
thanx again dear cheers
