My first day in the real world....

Hi everyone my name is Katherine and I'm doing my placement at a corporate events management company. They are known as Via Appia Networking WA and provide a unique edge to networking for Perth professionals. They base most their connections on who they know.
Their office is located in South Perth and they have a very easy going working environment that has been really easy and fun for me to adapt to. I only just started the other day and it was very enjoyable. It was nice to get an idea on what the business stands for and who carries out particular tasks. I think the most eye opening part about my first day was to actually see what we have learnt at university put into practice and actually feel part of a hard working team.

When I arrived one of the employees had me settled at my desk and had me sign papers and read through some introduction information about the business. I also learnt about the number of events they hold and the style and clients they provide and work for. She then made me set up a Twitter account and Linked In account as she thinks they are really important in the business world and will definitely come in handy later on. So all of you should get on that asap and follow me :) (@KatherineG31) Other than that I had very tedious day of working on the computer, where I listed events on their media contact websites. This took a lot longer than I thought. However, it was interesting to see what websites they utilise when promoting their events to the public, some of which I had never heard of it. My short day came to an end and I thought I had a pretty productive first day, learning a few different things but I know it's only the beginning. I'm excited for what's ahead of me and the number of events that are coming up...
