Hi Everyone, So as I mentioned in my first blog, I will be moving throughout Woodside's Corporate Affairs department with each week of my prac. This week I have been working in Community Relations and have loved it! It amazes me how much Woodside does for the community that even me - as a fulltime employee here - did not know about. I mean, I hear about some of the things we contribute to but it is literally just scratching the surface! My first few days were spent analysing Woodside's figures in the London Benchmarking Group reports for the last three years. This is where I saw the extent of what is given. For those of you who do not know what the London Benchmarking Group is check out this link:
http://www.lbg-online.net/lbg/top_menu/about_the_lbg/what_is_the_lbg. But to give you a very basic understanding it is a model used by hundreds of businesses worldwide to consistently and comprehensively measure their corporate community investment. Once I had analysed all of these figures I broke it down into each measure:
- Arts & Culture
- Education & Young People
- Health
- Economic Development
- Environment
- Social Welfare
- Emergency Relief
This allowed me to write up a summary on what Woodside has contributed over the last three years. This summary will be used for an article in Trunkline (Woodside's magazine) and on Woodside's website.
While I was working within this department, they were working on an event being held at Woodside Plaza called 'Live @ Woodside'. This is an innovative arts program that Woodside holds every year with community partners such as The West Australian Youth Orchestra, Scitech, West Australian Ballet and Indigenous Arts Performance. I helped out with this event by drafting a media release for some some community websites to help advertise the event to people outside of Woodside.
I have really enjoyed my experience in Community Relations.

Last week I did my week in Indigenous Affairs and I absolutely LOVED IT! I think I have found my passion :) Next week I am working in Karratha so stay tuned for how things went up there.
