Some more EVENTful weeks!

So my last post was all about networking at Via Appia Networking WA and also informing you all about some of the events I have been going too...but I still had more I wanted to share with everyone! So two weeks ago Via Appia Networking WA held an event for a jewellery business called Simply Fabulous. A lot of preparation and time is put into planning these events and alot of communication with the actual owner, designers, members and people needs to be done prior to the event. I was given the task of sending out information on their media contact websites and updating their facebook and twitter to create more awareness and promotion for the event. I even had to think outside the box and target different groups, so I emailed some schools to see if they could put it in their newsletters. I assume that some mothers would have been interested in a lovely night out that was all about jewellery. I also gathered addresses and put together some letters to send out for the event too. In the end the event was success and was actually quite a pleasant evening at the Etro Bar on Kings St in the city. I was pretty happy, trying on beautiful jewels with a glass of bubbles all night. I was quite pleased with the turn out, as it didn't look very promising a few days before. It shows that the hard work of promoting an event can really pay off and also proves how affective social media can be within a couple of days. And then last week, they ran a really interesting event called Thought Leaders, held at the South Perth Golf Club. The event was all about innovation and how you can block your competition with 'creativity.' They had this fantastic speaker come from Melbourne who spoke about innovation and two different business extremes. It was all very inspiring and insightful and I actually learnt a lot from it all. Everyone definitely walked away looking at their own business and employees in a completely different light. Even though it was an early event and the club served up a delicious breakfast, I definitely learnt some fascinating views on innovation and creativity. On the same day I went back to the office and got started on promotion and letters for the next event and also monitored facebook and twitter and did some work on Linked In as well. Networking WA has really shown me how important social media is nowaday and especially how important it is for a business like this relies on this form of communication. It takes such a huge part in the process. In addition to this same week I also helped out more contact research for the Resoure Panel event running this week. This event brings together some key industry leaders who will provide up to date information on the issues surrounding the WA resource sector. Again, sending out letters to potential clients and also blogged about the Simply Fabulous jewellery event too. So it was a very busy week but this is all I have for now...post again soon!
