Stepping Up!

This is my third blog post and with the huge workload that comes along with the final semester of university, I am very lucky to have my work experience placement at my place of work, 97.3 Coast FM. This way I am still making well-needed money as well as completing our necessary PR prac. This being a positive it does not mean I am any less busy or less stressed!

In the midst of our promotions manager leaving and the search for a new manager commencing, my experience in the promotions department has lead to me taking over the whole role for a few weeks. This being great experience, it does mean that I have stepped up to take on a full time position and a full time work load, whilst only working part-time and also studying full-time at uni. So yes, I am very busy! It will however push me and allow me to demonstrate my professionalism and ability to work well under pressure whilst still meeting specific deadlines, which can at the end of my studies, lead me to taking on the role as manager full-time.

With my new role, I have had to step up and take charge of all the roles I have assisted with over the past 11 months, and even though I have had quite a vast amount of experience in completing the tasks, it is still quite daunting to be the person responsible for the final decision of the promotion, competition, event or whatever is required. Having said this, I am looking forward to stretching my skills and gaining more responsibility within the company, even if it is only for a short period of time, it will still be great experience which could lead me into a managerial role in the not too distant future.
