Last Blog- Sailing World Championships

Hi everyone,

I was just looking through some of your blogs and was happy to find that many of you have attained permanent positions through your internships- well done! I am finishing up my placement at the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships after I started in July last year. I have learnt so much from my time there and have made many valuable friendships, including my mentor Richard Palfreyman, ABC oldie and Communications officer for many Olympics and Commonwealth Games. He has been such good support especially this year as I make the transition from uni student into the work place (after a couple of months in Europe of course!). Over the last year nearly all of the concepts and skills that I have learnt throughout my PR degree have come into practice at some point. I am finishing my time with Perth 2011 for now, however I may return when I get back from Europe. Richard is helping me looking into the possibility of getting a position as a Communications Assistant for the London Olympics as he knows many people that are in management positions there. All the best everyone in your future endeavours!

Sam your internship sounds extremely interesting. It's great to hear the extent to which the PR degree at Curtin has assisted us in the transition to the real world! Good luck with the Communications Position for the London Olympics, that would be amazing. All the very best and i'm glad you enjoyed your prac!
