As for me I can say the role of Public Relations in any organization, profit-making or nonprofit making is simply to help organizations achieve their strategic goals by building relationships with key stakeholders and communicating important information to the public..What's your point of view here???
For nonprofit making organization like Allen & Rew one of our clients, the role or PR was to develop channel of communication, recruit volunteers an obtain donations from different donors who were interested in funding programs in their own community and as well as informing and motivating key organizational constituents such as volunteers, employees and trustees.
It was proposed by Susan (2011,paragraph 1&2) that PR is fundamentally the art and science of establishing relationships between an organization and it's key audiences, the author continued to say that PR involves supervising and assessing attitudes, maintain mutual understanding between organization and publics with the role of PR being to institute new ways of setting up a two way flow of information and understanding,in terms of non profit making organizations including schools, hospitals, social service agencies PR boost support of their programs such as awareness programs, fund raising programs.
say anything about the role of PR in any organization profit or non profit making,, you are welcomed to critique, add anything regarding the role of PR as you see it or what you have done during your intern.

i agree with you, for an organisation to achieve its strategic goals there has to be a relationship between the organisation and the public and public relations has to develop a chain of communication for that relationship to work. Adding on to what you said about PR role in the organisation i would say according to Grunig and Huang in Ledingham 2000 public relations also makes the organisation more effective by building relationships with strategic publics and views relationship management in a potent role within the organisation by acting upon its wider tangible and intangible assets to meet the value enhancing objectives of a company.
I can say in addition to what you have already stated, that Public Relations is essential in day to day operation of an organization, regardless of being profit or non-profit. And organizations need to have PR in order to sort out some of the things like communication, advising the management on policies and its effect to an organization and also problem solver.
The role of public relations within the organisation is vital as it helps the organisation to make decision on how to approach and craft its communication policy and its the face of the organisation with its stakeholders. Most organisations tend to look other way when it comes to PR but forgetting that for their organisation to gain more profit s because the PR department it keeping the image of the organisation with its stakeholder intact and they make sure the organisation brand receives reputation from its stakeholders.
To add on to that, I would say the role of PR is also to institute and preserve those superior media relations to ensure a silky sailing in a company.Companies/organisations with good PR usually haggle less when it comes to company-client issues as good communication always creates a bond that leads to reciprocal understanding between companies and their clients. The role of Public Relations is rather significant in growing and expanding the company brand.
