DIG THIS!

So I am now half way through work experience at HWE Mining and has it been a learning experience and a half!! Currently working in the communications team I have learnt many valuable skills in my 10 days of work experience and completed many exciting tasks.

Current jobs I am working on include:

Business cards to all potential new employees interested in a job with HWE Mining on one of there sites. This has been an exciting opportunity as I got to decide the layout, content and graphic designs that would go out on the cards. These cards will be distributed at airports, in Geelong and various shopping centres in order to attract more staff from the eastern states to come and join the company.

I will also be heading up to site in a few weeks for 7 days, for the purpose of holding focus groups across Yandi, Area C and Orebody 23/25. The purpose of these focus groups is to get a greater understanding of current leaders and operators views on Indigenous Australians. My job is to assist the HR/Comms team throughout this process wherever possible.

Currently in the office we are implementing a new recognition scheme for all employees called Red Balloon. Red Balloon is an initiative that recognises employees on a monthly basis for going above and beyond company expectations. The rewards are great! employees get to choose from great prizes such as sky diving, M3 race course and many more. The office is holding a launch of this in their Osborne Park office to get Red Balloon up and kicking, the goal is to educate and inform all employee personel what exactly this is. My job has been to help and plan this event, and set up the office for the launch.

Alongside this I have also done the usual articles for upcomming newsletters and auditing of workers information which has occupied sometime in the office. As well as finding pictures for their online tutorial guide for all new employees with the goal of making it more interactive for when they first log on. I am enjoying my time here for sure, and cant wait to go up to site and hold our focus groups. Stay tunned to see how I go and what the end results are, I'm sure they will be interesting.

Cheers for reading :)
