End of the Road

If any of you have doubted the reasoning behind doing your placement or find it to be particularly strenuous or boring – don’t forget it’s for your own benefit. Even though you might feel like slaves at the moment, running errands or doing odd jobs it is definitely worth it! By now everyone’s placements should be wrapping up and it’s time to appreciate the experience you have got.

You might have a huge sigh of relief at the thought of it coming to an end but it’s one of the best things our uni has offered us over the past three years. Don’t think of this experience as simply a core unit or even something to put on your CV. Even if you don’t realise it, the experience you have had or are currently having is a great insight into the real world!

There might have been jobs or tasks that you’ve hated but all of these things have contributed to you learning about the industry or field in which you have worked. If you don’t want to go into the field that you have done your placement in you will have at least learnt lessons in how the workplace runs, how to deal with daily tasks and even how to deal with working nine to five.

Even if you have only taken something small or seemingly insignificant from your placement it is still something that should be appreciated. We’re doing this for a reason and it will benefit our long term career success!
