WA Training Awards Presentation Evening

Hi guys,

It has been a while since my last post but it has been so he tic at the Department of Training and Workforce Development. The WA Training Awards was last Friday and I can safely say it was a great night! Everything came together beautiful. The Perth Convention Centre looked amazing, as well as all 700 guests! The band played some new and old tunes with new and old people having a dance, even our director which was rather amusing.

This night was the result of a lot of hard work from everyone at the Department. I would say from last year that the night has changed for the better. West TV was filming the night, click the title to preview the night! My main role on the night was to update FaceBook throughout the night. Simon Walker, one of the executives thought I was just playing on the laptop but alas I was not. I was updating Facebook with photos and comments from the night and as each winner was being announced seconds later people online would know. The Hon Peter Collier even commented on how brilliant the night was, apparently he hardly gives recognition. This recognition was definitely deserved however.

From being more involved in the presentation evening this year I have learnt how important it is to be organised. Everything was allocated a time, I had even prepared the FaceBook updates before hand so I could simply copy and paste them in. I don't think there could have been a smoother running event.

My placement is nearly over, one more day to go! I have to say that I am sad to be leaving the communications team here is so great, friendly and yes we have had our fair share of nights out together. I have learnt so much from my placement here, even doing my PR International assignment I saw how important training is to the mining industry and that people should be recognised for their hard work. I hope I can take all that I have learnt into the arts and music industries that I want to work in.

Farewell and goodbye

Jasmine, I can tell you really had a great placement as well like many of us. Events are always great and fun as long as there are prepared for well in time.
