Aurelio Costarella Opening Night at PFF!

The time has come.. to unveil the opening of Perth Fashion Festival 2011 at the oh-so glamorous Aurelio Costarella evening held at C Restaurant!

Although this actually took place a while ago.. (September 21st to be exact).. the week of PFF was SO crazy busy that I am only having time now to catch up on my blogging!

So.. transport yourself back to the 21st and imagine my evening!

Arriving at C Restaurant I had my 'work' hat on because I was unsure of what and how much we would need to do.. Lauren prepped us for what to expect during the evening and Grant then took us up to the top floor and showed us exactly where we would be standing and what we would be doing.. which turned out to be pretty cruisey as we were pretty much just welcoming guests as they got out of the elevators, handing them a glass of champagne, taking their coats, showing them around etc..

As the night progressed, the elevators became more frequent and much fuller, which meant we had to be a bit more stern with the guests when mingling and chatting took place right outside the elevator opening..

The champagne was flowing and guests continued to arrive right up until 7.45, which was the 'cut off' time for entry. Due to the circular layout of the venue, as it became closer to capacity it was at times a rather big challenge trying to move everyone around and ensure the walk-way was free ready for the models to use as their catwalk. Another tricky task was monitoring how many glasses of champagne each guest had since the event was really only budgeted to allow one per person and then endless red/white wine for the rest of the evening. Of course, there were those that only wanted to champagne, which was a little tricky trying to explain to them why they weren't allowed another one..

These little glitches aside, the show went extremely well. Costarella's collection was amazing and the night certainly had a glamorous feel to it, which to be honest, I wasn't really expecting considering it’s just ‘little old Perth’.

News reporters, the Premier, Lisa Scaffidi (Perth Mayor), designers and Perth socialites were spotted amongst the guests.

Once the show itself had finished, Olivia, Lucy and myself were able to unwind and just enjoy the evening. The endless supply of wine and fabulous food was certainly a highlight of the event having been there fairly early in the day.. but it was also a great experience and a lot of fun soaking up the atmosphere and chatting to interesting people- an event none of us would have initially been invited to so were super privileged to attend!

The after party kicked on at the LouVe, where more food and drinks were provided until the early hours of the morning. Sure to hold on to our goodie bags, the three of us had a really fun night and certainly experienced the benefits of working in PR/events management!

I'm sure the rest of the week will be filled with hard work, chaos and lots of fun.. so will keep you posted!

Sounds like you had a fabulous time!! I love his dresses and the C restaurant so I'm very jealous of this experience. I didn't catch what company you were doing your placement for? Is it an events company? Thanks for the sharing anyway.

Hey Thy,
Yes his stuff is beautiful! I did my placement with a boutique PR/Arts Management/Production company called Muse Bureau. Had a really great time! Thanks for the comment :)
