Where to next?

Hello Everyone,

Not long before we are done now J. Most of us will be graduating after this semester but what next? Some of us have a job waiting for us but for others are still are waiting for the perfect opportunity to come their way. I thought I would dedicate this blog to exactly what we are all thinking about now, “What next?”.

A lot of us have hoped to get a job out of our placements. Since I did my internship in India, I was never too hopeful of that opportunity. However, after I had completed my internship I had been back to visit my supervisor during my second visit to India. What started off as a casual conversation about what’s new, ended in a job offer within the PR department at Prime Focus. I surely was happy, but at the same time I started to think. Did I really want the job? Did I really want to move to India?

It was a perfect job opportunity for me, as I would be working in one of the world’s biggest visual entertainment companies. As I had mentioned in my first blog, I have always wanted to work within the entertainment industry. The job offer is clearly my dream first job. But at the same time do I want to leave Perth? Many questions arose in my head and I became more and more confused with each passing day. I thought I should leave it to destiny, but soon came to realise that destiny is all based on choices. A choice is what I need to make.

What do all of you think? Should I take up this opportunity or give myself more time? I would love to here from all of you.

So this is it, my last blog. I’ve had a wonderful time sharing my experiences and reading the blog posts from all of you. I look forward to read more insightful blogs in the next couple of weeks as everyone finishes off their placements/reports.

Wishing everyone all the very best for the future.

Cheers,

Hi Srinali it's the first time that I see your post and I've gone through your previous posts in order to understand more about your internship and experiences....It seems such a great placement!!

I think that this job offer is a very BIG and UNIQUE opportunity for a fresh graduate student! and like you've said destiny is all based on choices......so seize this unique opportunity and make the most of it....otherwise this will remain as a question mark in your head....

Shrinali!

You should take the job offer. I work full time and it is not often that these opportunities will cross your path.

Working for a company of this scale will build your public relations skillset beyond belief and you will make lifelong connections.

Perth will always be waiting. Wishing you all the best!

Hi Natacha and Jess,

Thank you for the feedback and encouragement. Since I posted my blog, there has been a few developments to this job offer.

There was another girl at Prime Focus looking after PR too and she is leaving now. She used to look after some aspects and my supervisor would look at others (seeing that the organisation offers so much). Since she is leaving the HR department is looking for a replacement for her, however my supervisor suggested to them to wait and see what my plans were, as if I'm willing to go to India then to get me on board. I have sent through my resume and it is being reviewed by the HR Manager as well as the Marketing Director in London.

Thank you for the support and I will keep you updated on any further developments.

Hi Srinali,

I have been following your blpgs and I think that is it such a great experience that you got to work in India. Did you enjoy your placement? I can't believe you have been offered a job that is amazing, think about all the opportunities and the experience that you will get, do you think you will take it?

I think that you should really think about this job offer because it would be an amazing and once in a lifetime opportunity, definitely sleep on it haha but I think you should take it, even for a few months just to see how you go. Let me know your decision, I ca;'t wait to hear what you decide.
