Chinese New Year Orange Distributions

Greetings everyone,

This is my second post and I would like to share some of my experiences I had in Imperial Hotel. Chinese New Year Celebration is just around the corner and the hotel is packed with guests, mostly from Brunei. In the office we are rather busy, making sure all the event orders are out on time, all requirements by the guests are met and most of all, making sure everything is all up to the standards. We knew, good communications at these point are vital. Every details of events and functions must specifically inspected and every small requests do matters. This includes meetings, weddings, annual dinners, and even seminars and workshops.

Just like Christmas Celebration, we sent out cookies for the regulars, but for Chinese New Year, aside from our usual business matters, we have to distribute oranges to all the companies, who are the regular guests and users of our hotel facilities. This is to symbolized the mutual respects as to maintain good relationships with the regular customers within Miri. We (me and 2 other interns) as interns has the opportunities to show our creativity by wrapping around 50 baskets of mandarin oranges. Unfortunately, we did not get the chance to participate for distributing the oranges as only the Sales and PR executives are allowed to do so. Anyway, we had fun wrapping the oranges.

Aside getting involved as such activities, we interns have our duty of assisting every Sales & PR Executives whenever they require help. As such tasks includes the basic administration works like photocopying, making event order, answering phone calls, faxing and other imaginable office works. We literally do everything under the sun, at some moments when I felt all worn out, I could feel that they are fully 'utilizing' us as interns, but as much as I'd like to complain, I did not go that far. Its just best that I keep it to myself.

From all the messiness and chaotic days, I managed to look at the bright side, for what its worth, the experiences gained are priceless.
