GETTING BUSY
The Rural and Urban department were reaching out to teenage boys in one area called Ladang. Their main aim is to gather this children and teach them good morals so that they can stay away from indulging in bad behaviors such as smoking, stealing and drug abuse. They started a football team in order to attract the boys since boys like football so much. I was asked to make a poster for to launch the football team. I had to come up with a logo for the team so that it will catch attention of many people. The poster was attached to the monthly magazine of the organisation and many more copies were posted at Ladang. The poster gave a good feedback since many children turned up for registration. In two weeks time the team was getting ready for practice so that they can compete in the upcoming teenage cup competitions.
The managing director was invited by the Japanese embassy and the communications department had to accompany him. We had to reach the place ten minutes before the meeting starts to avoid any delays and we took along printed the invitation letter which was emailed by the embassy just incase we have to proof that indeed we were invited. At the meeting the ambassador donated a grant for a 1- tone truck
which will be used to serve the urban poor communities.
During this session I
had to take photos that will be put on the organization’s archive system. The camera was too complicated I tried to familiarise myself with the buttons but it was not really a cool moment. During the speech moments it was my duty to record the minutes of what transpired during the meeting, this one was not easy because it was not easy to understand their accent so I had to listen carefully and do lip reading. After the meeting, the following day I was offered to write a thank you note and email it to the Japanese embassy.

Thato It was nice reading about your experience, i think you realised that internships provide us a chance to take what is learned in the classroom and apply in a real-world setting. Things we learn or write will impress a future hiring manager in any PR department.
