The Weekly Happenings

Hi All,

Well eight whole weeks have now flown by and I am quickly approaching the final stretch of my interning placement.

My last post communicated the preparation and results in relation to the organisations two pop-up store launch parties. Now that the launch parties have passed and were a great success, the importance of utilising key channels of communication has come into play.

As an interactive activity on the night of the second launch party, guests were able to have their photos snapped by a polaroid camera which is a key product that is stocked within all of the stores. One of my assigned tasks was then to scan, edit and watermark the images so they were ready to be uploaded onto social media sites the next day. Guests of the party were then able to tag themselves in the images, ultimately generating an increased following for the organisation via Facebook and Twitter.

With the pop-up store now up and running another task has also involved creating blog posts in recognition of four collaborating brands that stock within the new store. The blog posts are then to be distributed weekly, informing the organisation’s target market about background information as well as each of the brands key products. As the blog posts are distributed, there is also a display set up weekly at the front of the store allowing customers to easily recognise the products.

Another vital task has also been to create a document and collate images that were requested by an organisation that is part of an international family with the common goal to promote public awareness of good design and environmentally sustainable design through key projects, tours, events and programs. The organisation in which I am interning for was selected for its contribution to design culture and the city fabric, participating in the inaugural event to be held in November. The document was to be utilised by the organisation for a website, social media, publications, postcards, an “app”, event map and programme. I was very nervous as to whether I had accumulated enough information for this document but after being given the go ahead by the fellow in charge I gained a slight confidence in my abilities.

Well that is all for now! My next post will be my last so stay tuned J

Your internship sounds really exciting Helen. Are you enjoying the creative and artistic aspect of it all? I hope this is helping you decide what avenue of PR you want to get into when you graduate, if you haven't already decided.
Thanks,
Gina
