At the end of My Internship

Before I really took this internship, I felt the marketing person and PR person would work together to reach a higher business position in The New Economy. But I thought there was a clear line between the PR and Marketing. And what I would do was all about the large society such as raising public awareness. However, being a successful marketing company will involve more PR work currently and in the future.

At the end of my internship, I really believed that I recept many practice skills I never touched before. The internship gave me an opportunity to see the real PR world. It is much wider than I used to think. The PR skills what I learnt at University does help me to complete the tasks I was given. And the university life increased my ability about work in a team.

My learning outcomes were:
  • In current period, the line between the Marketing and Public Relation has become blurring. A comprehensive plan of marketing and public Relation always works effective in a campaign even plus the advertising.
  • Although PR practitioners work in high intensity, they must create value for the clients. Because the clients focus on the result, want to know what their money spends for. Pressed for time or any urgent crisis are not an excuse for the company to scamp work which will not meet the client`s expectations. Well time management and attention to detail is a necessary factor to complete a good work.  Last but not least point is multi-tasking skills which will allow you work in a busy company.
  • Learning how to research and collecting the accurate and useful information is a basic skill to reduce your time spending.
  • Good communication skills help you have good relationships with your team members, clients and media.
  • Being confident is important for a PR person. It needs more work to make clients trust you and your group if you are lack of experience. So being confident of yourself, and show them what you can do is the most important to retain you clients.
My internship at the Chinese Cabbage Marketing Company gave me opportunity to think about the corporation between Marketing and PR. I had the opportunity to be involved in both the PR and marketing area, from retail owners’ relations to event management. And I completed my internship with a new interest in PR and Marketing, confidence in both a personal and professional level.

I feel so exciting that I could share my experiences here with all the PR students. I guess all of you had a wonderful practice chance. Do you love PR more than before? And I really think Professional Practice is an essential unit we should take before we begin our  PR careers. It did tell me what is the real PR & Markeing world like. And what I had learnt so far is far away from success. I have to study more and practice more to improve my professional and personal skills.

In the end, best wishes for your final exams and your future.
