And so it begins... Post 1

Hi everyone,
I'm Diavin Gopal and I am doing my internship at the prestigious Sachin Sagar studio. The reason I am blogging at the last minute is because I had to keep all the work done confidential until some of the works were made public. That done, I can now talk about my amazing experience working there. I will post everyday this week to share my experience with you.

Working in a company, for someone is a challenge at first, you have to know your employer well, his habits, his time schedule, his contacts, only to mention a few. By getting to know about your employer, you get to know about the company itself and learn about their code of ethics. Relating to public relationships, I believe it starts with you and your employer/company because public relationship is all about long term relationship. Having a good relationship with your employer is really important, it also gives you the motivation to go to work. I am glad to be working with a real professional in the field of photography and fashion. It is amazing to see how people respect professionals and also create friendship bonds over time.

The first few weeks at the beginning was hard for me, because my appointments clashed with my classes and  I had to adapt to handling both work and study at the same time. My employer Sachin Sagar, was very welcoming and he set professional rules, teaching me how to conduct myself and what are the do's and don'ts. Later we went on the location site, at Chateau Labourdonnais, where we met the clients who were the owner of the Zulily brand. Zulily though being a relatively new fashion brand for children in Mauritius, is a very successful one. Sachin did the photo shooting for two gorgeous little girls dressed up in the same dress as their playing dolls while I assisted him, holding the reflector to shower natural sunlight on the models. The client was very happy at the end of the shooting and said he would recommend Sachin Sagar Photography to all his contacts. This is where I realized that my employer's brand image target market is governed by word to mouth and reputation. My challenge as public relation student will be to find the best strategy to promote my employer's brand image who is already established in a "niche" market. It's the beginning of a new journey...

Catch you tomorrow for more about my work placement at Sachin Sagar Studio.
