Launching the "All Africa Junior Team Golf Championship 2013"

Hello guys,

It is being now more than one month I am working at +Sun Resorts. My internship is still going on in the same sphere of work as the first weeks that is, in a learning, hard working and dynamic environment. Recently, I have been charged to work on a big project that I wanted to share with you.

For the first time, from 27 April to 2 May, Mauritius will play host to the “All Africa Junior Team Golf Championship 2013”, a major Golf competition for the National African Juniors Team. Organized by the Mauritian Golf Federation, with the support of the African Golf Confederation and the R&A, this prestigious event will welcome young professional golfers from 10 different African countries including Mauritius. The competition will be held on the magnificent Le Touessrok Golf Course.

Hence, the tasks assigned to me were firstly, to organize a conference meeting with the members of the MGF (Mauritius Golf Federation) and alongside invite journalists. Therefore, this first task was quite challenging as I had to find the contact details of the several press media of Mauritius and contact them directly in order to invite them and make sure they attend the conference.

Furthermore, during the conference meeting I have been introduced to the journalists and important person, the golfers, the members of the association and sponsors the event. There was a really good exchange with them, as I have been able to share my actual experience at sun resorts and also talk about my studies and my future in the PR field.

Mr Christophe Curé, the president of the MGF.

Last but not least, after the conference meeting I made a press release both in french and english version in order to send to every concerned media. Also, I posted some articles and photos about the upcoming event on social media and blogs. You will find an article in the following link, http://letouessrokhotelblog.com/mauritius-receives-the-best-young

As from now, what I have learnt from this event is that, developing an effective relations with media outlets is key for PR professionals.

P.S. I will keep you update about the following tasks I have been assigned.

Heartfelt,
Charlotte C.C.Lam
