This blog post is long overdue and it won't be a very long one either.
My internship at d2 Publicity ended a month ago and in total, I worked there for thirty-eight working days. To be frank, I was ready to move on. I think I got everything I could from that internship as for the last three-five weeks, I haven't been given any new responsibilities or tasks to do around the office. That said, I was still given the basic tasks I was taught in the beginning but I stopped feeling challenged at my job, which I didn't like.
This internship has definitely taught me a few things about the industry. I was never sure whether I'd want to work at a consultancy or in-house, but after my internship I like the idea of having a variety of clients to deal with- it's interesting to see how each client prefer us to work with them for example, they each have a press release template/colours they prefer us to use.
I have thought time and time again of what I want to do after graduating, what industry I want to be in, if I want to pursue a PR career in-house or at a consultancy, or if I even want to pursue a career in PR. At this moment however, I want to look into possible receptionist positions because during this internship, I realised that I need work on my phone and communications skills, and also general office administration tasks. I may also look into another internship here in Australia as I don't feel like I'm ready to pursue a career in PR yet.
Regardless of what my future career will be, I am very thankful for the opportunity to intern at d2 Publicity. I got to work with a great group of PR professionals who were always very encouraging and very helpful during my time there.

It sounds like New York was quite an experience for you. First and foremost, you must give yourself a pat on the back for packing up and interning in an unfamiliar place. It adds on the challenging factor and makes us aware of how things work in another country. An extension of our PR International unit, it is important to keep abreast of what is happening around the world. Something I can vouch for personally with my placement - the fashion industry in Perth. Learning the fashion scene is one side of the story. The other is adapting to how a non-profit organisation like Perth Fashion Festival works.
Being an intern also makes the people around us doubt our abilities to perform occasionally. However, I think it takes courage to accept our strengths and weaknesses and move forward. That's my two cents worth for now. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Lucky you getting an internship in NEW YORK the city where most careers begins.
I totally understand what you mean by not feeling challenged at the end of the internship, and you get very tired and not being as hardworking as you started off. I guess that is what the real PR is, the real world they will be alot of issues and problems we have to deal with in a daily issue. Therefore this internship will help you realise that PR isin't all glamarous and high end like is depicted in most tv shows or magazine. I personally think there is alot more to it and you would need to put the hard work before getting and achieving results. But on the brighter note you got an internship in New York which many people are envying you at the moment its something good to put in your Resume and I am sure within the time of you graduating and finishing your depree you will find a job that you like and suits your personality be it in Pr or just as an adimintrator role.
