The two
days event organized by the Corporate Communication Department was held on the
22nd and 23rd of April. The aim was to search for
students and staffs who look suitable to represent Curtin’s image. While for those
who are successfully recruited, their photos will be used on Curtin’s promotional materials such as billboard,
handbook, advertisement, websites, banners and others. Early in the morning I followed
Yii Yang and Yee Boon to set up the photo shooting booth at the LT Foyer. We had prepared several props for students to
carry or to wear on while taking photos. Those props including, camera, lab
coat, goggles, helmet and books. Participants just needed to fill up a release
form in order to take part in the shooting. The first day respond was not very
good since a lot of students were still not aware of the event. My colleagues
and I had work very hard to pursue the students who passed as to encourage and
explain to them about the event. Fortunately, hard work did pay. We received
good respond on the second day.

I was busy given out forms and explained everything to the
participants, even thought it was tiring as I need to say the same thing over
and over again. Indeed, I had a lot of fun because I get to communicate and
make friends with the participants and this really help in improving my
communication skill.
Guess what, I myself also took part in the competition since the
prizes were too tempting.
