The Great Debate: Have We Failed The Homeless?

It has been quite a while since my last blog post. Finally I have the time to blog about the Homeless Persons Week which  was back in August. I have also got some pictures to share along with my experience for the past few days.

I normally go for internship twice a week which is on every Wednesday and Thursday. On the Thursday, 8th August 2013, we were responsible to help up with an event with the Community Housing Coalition WA. The event was The Great Debate on "Have we failed the Homeless?" held at the Atrium Theatrette.

There were four speakers for the debate basically discussing on what ways they should and can do to show their help towards the homelessness in Western Australia.

It was my first time helping up in an event with Networking WA and it was actually quite interesting. I have met friends with a few interns whom were on duty that day as well as we were responsible with the set up and refreshments.

Making sure everything is in place,
Alongside with a form for interested guests to join along the Walk !

People started coming and we were asked to serve them with refreshments before they were asked to go into the hall.

We were also required to act professionally while serving the guests,
as well as making sure there were enough food and drinks outside the counter.

When the hall was ready for the guests to enter,
We had to escort everyone into the hall and have them seated immediately before the debate starts.

Soon after, we are required to arrange more refreshments
which is for the guests after the debate is over.

Most guests were very impressed with the refreshments and food provided.

After the event, all guests helped themselves up with the food.

The end process of the event ended quite fast and we were asked to tidy up

Pack all things and head back to the office.

It was a short but an interesting event,
and I could not wait to help up for the Homeless Persons Walk

Which I will blog more about it in my next post! :)

That looks like an amazing opportunity to learn about events management! A great opportunity to test out knowledge in the real world. Events management and preparation in theory and university can only teach you so much, but to apply and learn about them in the real world is so much more valuable :)
