Tenby International School Miri @ Curtin University Sarawak Open Day 2013!

Hello everyone!
This would be my final post and I will be sharing about my working experience with the staffs and my colleagues of having a Tenby School booth at Curtin University Sarawak, Miri Campus. One of the best way to promote Tenby International schools and the chances to allow the people to get to know better about Tenby International School.
A couple weeks ago before the open day, I was involved in several tasks to prepare for the open day. I worked together with the 2 interns colleagues and we were under the supervision of Esther. Three of us work together as a team to gather ideas to plan things that we can do on the open day. Previously, I have designed the leaflet for the Tenby International School Open Day. So this time, the other interns colleagues were given the chance to do the leaflet with a different design for the Open day.
Besides, we have discussed and outlined a PR event plan which include event plan, checklist, running sheet and running schedule. The event plan is arranged accordingly to the timeline which has been set after we have meeting and discussion with Esther. This is the second event that I have involved so far, and the most important thing is I have learned a lot from the staffs here. They are all very friendly and patient. They are willing to teach and help me once I occurred with any problems with my work. I felt very grateful about it.
Tenby International School booth was located at the entrance of the Recreation Hall.
Our booth was originally at the other side in front of the John curtin building but then they have changed the location to the kiddies corner entrance as requested by the staff.  The Tenby School banner was hung up attached to the tent so that people could see our booth from far. The school principal, Philip Brisley, the Head of Secondary, Mr Peter and Head of Primary, Mr Nicholas have joined and participated with us, and will enthusiastically welcome all the visitors at the booth.
Curtin Sarawak Open day was begun at 10 a.m. and it ends at 4 p.m. We arrived at the Curtin campus at 8.30 a.m. We went earlier so that we have enough time to set up the booth before the event started. Once I have reached there, I helped the staffs to arrange the stuffs and decorate the students’ works on Science, Art, Literacy and Music on the board stand. One of the way to promote Tenby International School by displaying some students’ art works at the booth.
Tenby International School banner hung up by Simon, one of the staffs who came to help us to set up the booth.

Besides, the corporate video of Tenby International School has shown and played on the projector throughout the day. It is to attract the attention from the people who walk pass by our booth. I was working morning shift of the day for the Open day while the other interns colleague came in the afternoon. I was pretty busy throughout the morning session to assist with the school enquiry while my other colleagues were busy serving the parents who drop by our booth.
Besides, I walked around the campus with my supervisor, Esther to distribute the leaflets and flyers to the visitors. We have also prepared the promotional materials including notebooks, mini diary and pens with the Tenby School logo to the parents who have visited our booth. Balloons with Tenby School logo were also prepared as gifts for children.
And, I must say it was really amazing to see everything especially the efforts that we have been putting in, come to real life on that day. Everyone had fun and enjoyed themselves.

Leaflets and staffs' name cards were prepared to be given out to the visitors.

Parents/visitors dropped by our booth to have a look at the art works displayed.

Staffs and I were busy preparing in the early morning.
Mr. Peter was sharing and promoting about Tenby International School to the visitors.

Last but not least, I feel very honored to be able to work with such amazing people and also being to participate in the process of the committee during my placement at Tenby International School. I definitely would love to join the big family and be a part of the member if I were given another chance.

Hi Pei Ling,

That's a great experience for you. Event planning can be tiring but exciting at the same time. It's good that you were part of the planning phase which includes drafting up the event plan, running sheet and schedule.

I was lucky enough to go through a similar experience as you. The company that I am currently interning for has an upcoming launch and it is a great privilege to be part of the organising team.

The best thing we can take away from such events as students or interns is the experience and exposure of organising such events.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

I wish you the best of luck with the rest of the unit and your future endeavours.

Hi Shaleeha,

Thanks for your comment and sharing!

Indeed. I agreed with you that we are very lucky to have this great opportunity for being able to involve in such events. Those things we have learned in class previously can be used in the real world. They are pretty important and useful, which can be applied to work from now and then, especially in future.

Wish you All the best in your studies and your future endeavors!
