Ready to start a new chapter in life?

Greetings!

My name is Wong Pei Ling. I am currently taking Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication under the Media, Culture and Communication Department from Curtin University Sarawak.

This is my 8th semester in Curtin University Sarawak Campus and also my final semester of studies. I am a 23 year old from Kuching, Sarawak. I am currently working with Tenby International School, Miri Sarawak.

For your information, Tenby International School is originally located at Piasau and they are now relocate from Piasau to the new location at Desa Senadin. I'm currently working at the new campus with the staffs that are mostly new and some of them are the existing staffs. They have been working for the school since it has been operated two years ago.

I still vividly remember the first day of working at Tenby International School. I was very nervous when I think about the new environment and people that I am going to meet at work. At the same time, I was feeling excited to explore new environment and meeting my colleagues.

The first person I have met was Esther Choo, my supervisor, she is working as a marketing executive. There are 2 more interns who are also from Curtin University Sarawak. They started working in the beginning of August while I joined them two weeks later.

We have a briefing with Esther and Elysie in the office. Elysie explained to us about the history of the school, activities of the year, events and some information which related to the school. Later, Elysie toured the three of us around the campus. We met a lot of new people and staffs. While touring we get to know each other pretty well. Elysie showed us around by making an introduction to the department and each colleague’s job scope.

Everything was still very new as the school has just moved into a new location. During the first few weeks, we were asked to do some researches on international schools fees and courses offered, media monitoring and press clippings. As usual, my daily routine is reading newspapers and always hoping that there would be any news that related about Tenby Schools will definitely catch my attention.

I have learnt on how to work with my colleagues and they have assigned me with some other works such as office documentation, key-in academic staffs’ and students’ information as record. Besides, I have involved in the two most important tasks to be working with my supervisor and the 2 interns colleagues, and assisted in planning for the events Tenby International School Open Day and Curtin Sarawak Open Day.

I will be sharing more on my internship journey soon. Stay tune to my next entry.  I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about my experience.

Feel free to enjoy the pictures below :)

They even have this Smart Kiosk which I think is a very useful machine to all of them. It is newly implemented for the students and parents by the school and it is use to reload credit balance for paying the meals, drinks, stationary, fees etc.
Staffs showing and teaching the students on how to use the kiosk machine.

Thank you.
