i was told to help construct a page on Facebook where people could go and like the page and receive news from time to time. however, once i went away i thought to myself, well this just touches the surface of what social media could do for a company, and came to the conclusion that if this was going to be done it had to be done right. thus, i went back to my supervisor and said, "instead of this being rushed and done halfheartedly, just because the company didn't have a Facebook page why don't we see to what extent this can help the company, so let me do some research about how to do this right".
so, simply, i assigned myself a new task and below are some important that i have relayed back to my supervisor and will be implementing in the weeks to come, these ideas for those of you that are interested, are;
- Connect and develop relationships with influencers in social media
- Pitching
- this is essentially the communication of messages to the public and if not done right could bring negative results to the company's campaign
- Using unique content as way to reach certain audiences
Once i gave this info back to my supervisor we discussed a different approach and it seems that the company will take social media and the strategies behind it to mind next time there is a campaign to run.
Thank you

Hey Hugo,
It’s a very interesting post of yours on social media issues and it drove me on some reflections about more or less the same issue that I had to face during my internship; but to actually search for information to design a website.
The first thing that I noticed when I had to search for a company to do my internship is that many companies haven’t got a page on the web. In securing my internship, I came across the name of my company on the net but when I searched information about, nothing could help me more but I wanted to take the chance because of location basis.
This is a real issue for many companies as I can see and they have a real lack of visibility. Creating visibility is very important because it helps us market our services in a proper way and clients might be more attracted if they know much about you. I believe word of mouth is clearly not enough as a tool. Companies need to have a proper website that identifies them but also make them look more professional in numerous way. It also saves time for clients and it can also be a way of reducing costs in the company if they make efficient use of their website, like for example enabling an option for clients to contact them.
A facebook page is very interesting because it touches a large audience but I believe that a website would be more appropriate for my company because it is a Public Relations company and it kind of looks more professional for them. But clearly, it might not be adapted to another company, depending in which domain it specializes.
I hope you got through your social media issue and learned a lot through that.
