Final week of semester-a time to connect with stakeholders

Last night myself and three other members of the guild decided to cook a midnight breakfast barbecue for student who were studying all night before the end of semester.

With the introduction of SSAF fees students are nowhere aware of what the guild is spending money on and very direct benefits, such as free food are always popular.

As people that are all students, or have previously been Curtin students we all understood that students are currently under extreme pressure and as such they would need a pick me up. It wasn't obviously ideal for us to be barbecuing at midnight when we to had assignments due but from a PR standpoint doing this was the perfect way to interact with stakeholders.

Student were so grateful that we were there and we tried to really plug that it was run by the guild. Mia and myself also went to ever abacus lab on campus to tell students about it as well which I think was also really appreciated.

Another major positive to come from doing this was that it got posted on overheard at Curtin, a Facebook group that is classically very anti-Guild. The responses to this post were also very, very positive which is great from a PR point of view.

Clearly sometimes putting yourself out to benefit stakeholders can really increase the trust they have in your organization as was proven last night.
