Under Hyatt's Thrive programme, there are many social responisbility activity in it. One of it is the festive visit to the local charity association. In 17th of December ,prior Christmas, organized by Human Resource Department, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu paid festive visit to Bukit Harapan Therapy Community.
Led by Director of HR, Mary Susan Johnson and Director of Engineering, Paul Lajumin along with 24 staff of Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. The visit began with the staff receiving warm welcome from the residents, followed by Christmas songs by residents of Bukit Harapan and hotel's own choir group.
Shortly, we are bonded with the residents through musical chair and several interesting games. I had so much fun playing with the residents. However, the time I spent there got me thinking how happy and a good life I'm having, and I feel sorry for the residents.
The house is a self funded non-governmental organization founded in 1988 by Anne Keyworth, which also known as "Mama Anne". The house currently taken care of 41 residents by 14 staffs whom the residents are mostly orphans, mentally disabled , abused and homeless.
My PR manager given a task, which was to get an interview with the person in charge and prepare a press release regarding the visit. I was able to get a chance to interview a therapist there, Ms Lisa Florde Liza.
It was a wonderful visit, and by the time I got back to hotel. With all the information I have, I prepared a press release for my PR manager for the next day publishing.

Hello competitor!(just kidding :D)we had the same experience during Xmas!So glad to hear that you have the chance to write press release. its really a valuable experience as behalf of the hotel to prepare a press release. Cheers!
Sadly I didn't get to do any press releases, but also got to do some christmas CSR. Amazing experience! We are lucky because December to February in Malaysia is the best time to intern for hotels, lots to sink you teeth into!
It's really a great chance for me to expose to the outside world CSR. All the time we only discussed on the paper, it's totally different than discuss it on paper and do it in action.
You did mentioned your PR manager asked you to interview the person who in-charge as to write a media release regards the event. Just out of curiosity, what question did you asked? and why?
