...And I picked up the phone!

After attending the PR 393 orientation, I was asking myself: how on earth can this unit be the most exciting one for many PR students? At first, I was stressed. I was wondering who will hire me for one month only. When the time came to start applying, I spent my time sending mail to a number of companies and NGOs. Then, I was going through some documents on the PR 393 module and I came across something like: Do not rely on mails only, PICK UP THE PHONE!

So I picked up the phone! I called Publico Creative before sending them my CV and motivation letter to tell them to check their mail in a few minutes. I called again to make sure they went through my mail and I again explained the person on the phone what kind of internship I was looking for. It took them less than 24 hours to get back to me and give a positive answer on the phone itself!

I went there and got my internship approved in one day only. On my first day itself, I started to get along very well with the people there. At noon I got a call from my friend who told me that Publico called her and asked her to come to work tomorrow! That was just amazing!  My supervisor told me that we would start working on a PR plan for Black Energy the next day.

The PR plan is done now and we  followed more or less the same format we learned in class. In class we would get a good grade on this PR plan, but to our surprise, we felt like it was a very basic one after a meeting with our supervisor!

I think what we learn in class is never going to be the same in real life when it comes to PR. The four walls of the class are gone and so is our limit. I remember how our supervisor told us to 'go wild' on the plan. I didn't understand to which extent she really meant it! I am actually very much excited to work on the PR plan once again and let my ideas run wild as I was asked to!

But then, I spend much time assisting photo shoots too these days. I really should find more time to work on the PR plan.

Till then, goodbye!

PS: I now understand why those who already did this unit loved it so much. I am very happy with my internship!
