Lauren? Meet office. Office? Meet Lauren. #bonding

My name is Lauren and I am lucky enough to be doing my 20 internship days at Devahasdin. Four days in, I am slowly getting the hang of how the office works.

Everyone eats lunch at their desk, unless they are meeting a client for a meal. Often, senior consultants won't get a spare moment to start their lunch until 3pm. On Fridays, it's casual dress, and the wonderful women that I share an office with insist that I can finish up early in the afternoon. I stay back until normal close though, like everyone else.

We are always busy. Each and every task we do - from compiling media lists, to clipping newspaper articles, to saving images and liaising with clients on the phone - is done with perfect attention to detail.

There is a never-ending list of things to do. If I, as an intern, feel constantly busy - how must the director feel?

The Devahasdin office is always busy - but it is always confident. It is always in control, despite the constant demand for attention from emails, phones and deadlines. To work in public relations, one must be be able to work under pressure, to be composed able to multi-task.

This week I answered the phones, I build up media databases, laughed with the girls at the office, fetched more coffee, clipped images, listened, observed and got a taste for just how hectic a career in public relations is likely to be.

From one intern to another, it's been fantastic.
