Hi! My name is Liang Ying and people usually find it hard to pronounce my name as I don't have an English name so just call me Liang will do! :) I'm doing PR and Management in Curtin University and this sem would be my final sem. I can't wait till i finally graduate!

So, everyone doing PR Internship 393 seems to be completing their internships already, but I've just started my internship with Dynamic Flame Badminton Club (DFBC) last month. And it is truly my dream job. The reason I chose a quote by Confucius as the title of my first blog post is because it truly reflects how i feel towards the job. Badminton is one of my favourite things on earth and I have also been playing badminton for 6 years.

My interview for the fundraising manager position was conducted in Curtin Stadium during a badminton session. How cool was that! This position was initially a volunteer position, the president of DFBC, Norm, being really nice told me that he would do anything to help me with my internship. 

During the interview, Norm asked me to introduce myself and some standard interview questions. He was really nice and friendly. At the end of the interview, he asked me to go home and think of a few fundraising ideas which would attract more members and raise funds for their club. 

So I went home, did some research and thought of some creative and fun ideas which I am sure would help the club.

So, DFBC is a not-for-profit organisation and was founded in 1985. The main purpose of this club is to promote physical activities. DFBC is inclusive, culturally diversified and support Malay, Vietnamese, Burmese, Philippines, Chinese, SIngaporeans, British, Canadians, Australians and various nationalities. 

The Executive Management Team (EMT) of DFBC is a young dynamic and energetic team of volunteers (aged between 18 and 25) that networks eight clubs located at Cannington, Bentley, Girrawheen, Melville, Langford, Kingsway, Heathridge and Vic Park.

I'm so glad to have the opportunity to work with DFBC because it is like doing two things i really love at the same time. I really love playing badminton and what's better than doing what you love and at the same time gain experiences in doing PR (which is another thing I am really passionate about)?
