So, I'm nearly finished my professional placement. With only five days left to go, reality is starting to hit me that I'm nearly done and I'm going to have to leave all these wonderful people. But, lets not dwell on that shall we?
As it edges close to the season, the staff is getting quite tense. I notice a lot of them snapping at each during conversations involving work and how stressed they are getting trying to put everything together. It is really amazing and daunting to see just how much work, effort and planning goes into a single event... let alone an entire season of events! It's even more amazing to actually help with, and I can tell how grateful some of the staff are for me helping out, even with the most minor jobs such as laminating forms, because it takes at least a little bit of stress off their shoulders.
Today to de-stress everyone, we are having a staff BBQ for lunch. I think this is a great idea, because office environments can become very hectic and dull, especially when you are seated at a computer all day and making numerous phone calls. Personally, I think all office settings should do something like this - not just casual dress Fridays.
Otherwise, my work load has been on and off. There is a lot to do, as I mentioned, but finding things for me to do that I am capable of is tricky. Lately I have been helping with small office tasks and just creating Facebook posts to build excitement and awareness for Motorvation 30. Yesterday I was sent home an hour early because there was simply nothing for me to. It definitely is a reality check about what kind of work goes into an event.
