So this is actually my first post! Im working at DLA Phillips Fox in the business development office. I absolutely love it! The marketing and PR of a professional service is so diferent to anything else i have worked in before so i really enjoy comingto work!
The flip side is all the admin associated with professional services and business development. Im now excellent in the field of administration!
I have five main events to organise in my month here, as well as numerous other internal lunchtime presentations and talks. At this stage its all catering lists, design templates and categorising attendees into relevant categories - prioirty etc. All events are divided into internal and external functions. My first internal function is a retreat which starts this friday and my first external is in a week.
DLA Phillips fox is an internationl legal firm which operates specifically in new Zealand, Australia and Asia. It is a subset of the worlds largest Legal service provider DLA Piper. TEverything here is sorted onto specific databases whcih make information and details easily accessible and keeps all global offices in contact with each other.
The main level of publicity and PR that goes on is either completely internal like team building functions or handled through media releases, print advertising and sponsorships.

Just read your blog and saw your doing your placement at DLA Philips Fox. How exciting? Is it very different because it is a law firm? I have a girlfriend that works there as an assistant and she loves it! Administration must be exciting! You sound like your loving it! hahaha I guess you get to build your contacts with lawyers so that's pretty cool. You sound like you're getting heaps out of the placement so that's always nice that they get you stuck into real tasks and they will look awesome for your report. So don't forget to take photos of all the functions and events you get to organise. Anywho I best be off. Enjoy yourself! Lannie xxx
