The other face of “red light”

My company will do a trial in Geylang. When the first time I heard it I was thinking what kind of trial can be done in Geylang.

Some people may not know about the Geylang in Singapore. Let me give you some information about this area. Geylang is a famous for two things in Singapore: food and prostitute. It is a “red light” area in Singapore. Actually Geylang is a very interesting place; of course I don’t mean that you can find fun there. What I mean is you can see a lot of different characters people there. It just likes a small world.

So what kind of trial we will do there???

The answer is a heritage trail to Geylang. Sounds interesting?? People may ask a “red light” area have heritage. Yes, it has. There are some historical museums and art studios. These places people may not know. So our company is helping our client do this trial. And I am doing this job with another girl. Although this trial is in July, we need to prepare for it at least 3 months before. My boss asked me to find the history of Geylang as much as I can. For example, the earlier map of Geylang, what kind of people live there, why this area call Geylang, etc. I thought doing search is a boring job, but when I really did it, I suddenly found that searching can tell me a lot of things. And you can find something you may never know when you are searching. You will get more and more exciting when you are searching.

And on the other hand, I need to contact a monk. I have never had a conversation with a monk before. See, it is the interesting part of a PR job. Although my job is just telling the monk we are going to do a trial in Geylang and ask him whether he can join, I still worried that I talk improperly. But the monk is a very nice guy; he said he is willing to help us. And I just arrange the date for my boss and myself to meet with the monk. We decided we will have a meeting next Saturday. I will talk about it after I meet with this monk.
