So its busy busy busy at the Jaxon office. I've done about the equivilant of one working week.PR200 is really coming in handy for my placement I mainly have worked in Marketing so the skills I learnt there are getting good use in my PR placement!
As my direct supervisor is responsible for 4 companies she is hardly ever available.
We started my placement by mapping out a clear outline of what needed to be done and splitting the work up between me, herself and the other marketing officer for JAXON. From here it allowed me to send updates on tasks etc.
The first stage was creating detailed event plans and action lists for all three and making sure the all important budget was being monitored.
The two smaller events are basically my responsibility (both in Port Hedland) and I have done everything from designing the invitation (my graphic design skills are coming in handy) to finalising the invitee lists to organising the booze!!
There is so much detail involved in event management.
We are on a tight deadline for the Hedland events seeing as we got the go ahead only one month before the date so we are desperately scrambling to get everything organised and got one of the last 4 plots at the racecourse.
The biggest challenge I have faced so far is organising the catering it seems that the major caterering company in Port Hedland has decided to give their staff the day off for the Hedland Cup - meaning no one can get catering!
Work on the 50th Anniversary has been a bit tedious it appears the original person who decided to put the list together (of over 500 people) did not include titles or adresses! So guess who has the fun job of finalising the list - yep its me.
