This is Liyan from Curtin Singapore. I'm glad to be sharing my experience here in my current company Brillante Music.
This is my 2nd week of internship and I was involved in one of the annual event of company. The Junior Band Festival 2009. This event used to be an event where our young musicians get to showcase what they had learnt over the past 6 months. This year to allow the parents to have a better understanding of what their children are learning during their band practices, I've proposed to get the parents of these young musicians addressed during the concert.
As music is a interest that will take up quite a bit of time of our young musicians, they will need strong parents support to continue in this journey. Thus I wrote up a script for the emcee to get some the senior musicians involved to share their experience in bands to give the parents an idea of what is to come for the parents.
With the idea of making the whole event light-hearted, engaging and truthful, I did not inform any of the senior musicians. The result of this pilot test seems to have achieved its objective as parents came to us during intermission and after the concert to find out more about their children progress and involvement in band.
My next event in tomorrow evening an Annual General Meeting for the association where my boss is serving as a President.
