On the 9 february stanbic bank held a breakfast and cocktail seminar to review botswana's 2010 budget. It was a great privilege for me to be part of the seminar not to mention the youngest panelist.
During the seminar there are a lot of things discussed. The chief executive officer of Motswedi Securities Martin Makgatlhe has said the economic diversification of this country is too slow and by serious observation there is likely to be more rise in corruption particularly in awarding government tenders. The government has not done enough to use the local capital market to raise funds.
There were positive developments that the Government of Botswana has introduced. The government’s budget for infrastructural projects will boost the economic growth and employment. Amongst the developments they cited are Ipelegeng programmes and Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST).
