Internship out of the office!

Hey everyone!

I'm no longer working in the Shelter WA's office! However, I'm still doing my internship..I have 5 days left! We all had to move out of the office because builders are coming on Monday to repair the damges caused by the hail storm! So here we are, working from home, with regular meetings, and also communicating via emails. We had to move everything out of the office today (computers, desks, files, EVERYTHING).
I almost completed all my tasks; and now working on another media release, which will be on "reconnecting with the past". We decided to write this last media release due to a certain amount of people contacting the office and complaining about not receiving any of Shelter WA's newletters anymore. They were pleading that they signed up for a "member for life" contract 30 years ago (Shelter WA's beginning!). As 30 years ago, Shelter WA was not using any computers to file their members, everything was hand written..and there is no record of any of these "members for life". The strangest thing was that no one in the office has heard about the "member for life" option!
However, having these people calling after years, showed that they are potential audiences and are obviously still interested in participating in Shelter WA. That's why, we decided to find these members through this last media release andmaybe through Facebook too!

It's very different to be working at home now; I have 5 days to go until the end of my internship. Depstite that we are all at home, there is a really strong communication among everyone. WE all chat, email and meet with each other at least once a day.

While looking for possible audiences or organisation, I found a really interesting organisation whose role is to help other non profit organisations financially. I showed it to my boss, and she is really interested incontacting them. I'm responsible to contact them, and also send some letters to community newspapers for the media releases. I didn't really know what to do with the media releases once I had them written down and ready to go! I met a PR girl form an event management company, and she gave me a lot of tips. Even thought I'm a bit nervous, I'm now ready to send my letters and call the organisation!

PS: The facebook is doing really good, already have a significant "public" who is really interested in Shelter WA! Was a great idea!

talk to you all very soon!

Clo
