Over the last 20 days (well really 8 months, GGF got lucky!), I have learnt more about everything that I thought was even possible in that short amount of time.
I have not only learnt the importance of PR and Marketing in not-for-profits, but the workings behind a charity and almost how to run a charity!
I have been fortunate enough to liaise directly with the Chairman and Founder (Tenille) throughout my placement. The best part is, not only in the area of PR. Tenille has taught me about fundraising, sponsorship, partnerships and how to manage staff and volunteers. Geez, I am even on the Management Board now!
All I can say is thank you PR393 for giving me an opportunity to get so involved with an organisation and learn so much.
I really hope most of you have learnt as much, if not more, than I have during your placements. Getting real hands on experience is so important, and hey, you may even find your passion!

Hi Tiffany,
I’m also pleased that PR 393 provided students with such incredible opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in practical working life situation. My internship experience was a very rewarding one. It has not only enhanced my public relations tactics and time-management skills, but also provided me with opportunities for professional and personal development. It is really important to have a taste of real life PR working situation during our studies at university.
Although it is only a short period internship, I’m so delighted that I’m able to gain considerable benefit out of it in terms of knowledge, skills and meeting with people. It’s really good to have seniors to teach and share their experience with me during internship. It’s part of learning process as well! This internship definitely increased my passion towards the challenging PR world! I’m really looking forward to it!
hi Tiffany,
It is great to hear how Curtin students are content with their placement through PR 393. I am proud that Curtin has really helped prepare us for the 'real thing' as our verbal and written skills have been trained through presentations, team work, written work and general PR theory.
It has been an amazing semester as I speak for most people that our personal and new skills have been developed through our placements. I think it is amazing to see how you have achieved enough trust and appreciation in your organisation to be given such large responsibilities and involvement.
You really have made the most of your internship as you have developed almost every new skill required to enter the industry, To be on the management board is a great accomplishment as this is this is beyond what is expected from an intern in any organisation.
This gesture shows that you possess great leadership, trust, management, hard-work and passion for your position. Your post is inspirational, as it shows that anyone is capable of reaching the stars if they show enough initiative.
It has been an inspirational semester where I can see that most of us have learnt from others who have had years of experience in the field. Congratulations on all your achievements and for inspiring others with your final post.
