Busy days

Hi Everyone!

This is my first blog entry.=) Currently, I've completed six days for my placement. I found it very challenging to manage both my placement as well as university classes and assignments, all at the same time. I've to say since last sunday till yesterday, it has been pretty hectic.

Last Sunday, the organisation I am currently attached with, Alzheimer's Australia WA Ltd held an event called the "Memory Walk"in Curtin. The Walk was to honour the 23,000 Western Australians who have Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia or in memory of a loved one. Before the event, I had been mostly helping out in packing the goodies bags and preparing for the event. I was able to observe the process on how they promote the event to the public, for example sending out the event's informations to their members and having a talkback session on 6PR to discuss on Alzheimer's disease and to raise awareness on both the organisation and their upcoming events. As I major in film and television, I was assigned to film the event, starting from the preparation that began at 7am and ended at 3pm in the afternoon. I had to capture footages of the preparation before the start of the event, the people who attended and walked for the event, the "flags" that were placed at the centre of the oval at the end of their laps of honour and lastly interviews with the publics if they enjoyed the walk and their reasons for attending this event.

Overall, I think the event was a big success and is a truly meaningful one. Through interviews from the publics that attend the event on that day, I learnt that many have lost their loved ones to this disease and are all very supportive towards the organisation and its cause. Ten thousands flags were place on the centre of the oval that day which were more than the organisation has targeted! Hopefully, after I complete making of the video, I would be able to share it with you guys!=)
