It was such a great day, we heading down to HMAS Stirling in Rockingham and walked across the Causeway to Garden Island. It’s a 7.5km walk and it was such a beautiful day. I do have tosay that it was such a lovely way to finish the campaign off. Below are some photos of the day. We were then able to enjoy the festivities on the island, with the HMAS Family Fun day. We created a little video of the day, which was sent to head office, and interviewed individuals who walked across the bridge. They had a turn out of around 800 people!
Once the day was over, the work still wasn’t finished. Since Walk to Work Day I have been busy putting together the exit report for this year. If you thought that once you got out of uni you’d never have to write a report again, you were wrong. This report involves compiling everything together, frommedia clippings to the newsletters that were sent out. We needed to inform head office of all the tasks we have been doing for the past 3 months and its not easy. This report has taken me about 5 full days. I wanted to make sure that I included everything and didn’t miss a thing.
This campaign has been really insightful and a great start to my PR career. I have loved how practical it has been for me, from writing media releases and pitching to the media to going to photo shoots and writing newsletters. It has been a fun learning curve and while at the start I wasn't sure how I was going to pull this off, it all came together in the end – just like Claire said it would.
It has been so fantastic and I have met some amazing people along the way. It was a teary day in the office the day I left, but one thing is for sure - I have met some amazing people duringmy placement and will continue to build strong relationships with them for years to come.

seem like you had your hands on in all areas. glad that you had the chance to participant and gain insight on how tough and time-consuming planning an event would be.
i didn't know after an event you've got to write a detailed report etc. i suppose it's just part of the evaluation on how successful the event was. all the best.

This sounds like an amazing experience! I can relate to the positive feeling of knowing you've had a well-rounded practical start to your career. I'm glad you didn't experience any hitches on the day, I'm hoping for a similar experience in the event I'm involved in. I like that you finished off with reference to relationship building. I also feel as meeting people and making contacts has been the most beneficial part of my placement. Good work on finishing a hefty report and good luck with the future!
